Thanks for the link to that recipe. It sounds great and I just got a butternut squash from my CSA this week. As I still have plenty of zucchini, I may give this a shot!

They are VERY CUTE potatoes! Back in my hippie days, we lived on a NC farm and would go out and dig up a mess of those little red New Potatoes, boil them, w/skin of course, and feast. Lightly salted and buttered. YUM! I applaud your efforts on behalf of CSA, good food, perfect health (the slowest possible rate at which one can die). You're a treasure, Casey.

No longer sorely neglected! When I first saw the name change, I thought maybe you'd gone into Civil War re-enactment. We have a small garden (a "square foot garden"), and there are good markets around here, but I don't know whether we actually have a CSA. The main reason for my comment is to let you know about a book I'm reading which might interest you: "The Town That Food Saved: How One Community Found Vitality in Local Food," by Ben Hewitt (ISBN: 1605296864). It's about Harkwick, Vermont and surroundings, an area in decline after the granite business went bust, and about the "agrepreneurs" (author's word) who are setting up a local food system for the area. Haven't gotten very far into it yet, so I can't say how well it works, but it's an interesting read. Take care, and thanks for the behind-the-scenes looks!

"...old white guys.." ? Excuse me?

Are they 20 years old any more? Obviously not, but THEY WROTE THE SONGS which inspired that amazing stage design (and a couple of generations of fans). The designers spoke of embracing The Who "iconography" and a graphic, video emphasis on the "sonic architecture" of The Who's music. I believe they succeeded. To me, it is ultimately about The Music, not necessarily even a specific performance of it. The Who is a historic band, the surviving members of which, are getting older at the same rate we all are. IMHO, they will always have the right to play that music, (regardless of what they look like), with a more credibility than anyone else because they created it.
Besides, personally, I would hate to lose interest in something I loved because a "bunch of old white guys" were playing it. Old white guys? What have they to say? What about Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, JD Crowe, Ralph Stanley, etc etc? Could they have been "old white guys" as well? I think so. "Old white guys" indeed. Hurrummph! Signed - "An Old White Guy"

I want to know why I don't know any of these fabulously articulate people, except Casey of course. But, I want to weigh in with the confession that I often buy Cook's Illustrated, but mostly because I love the art! The food illustrations, especially the cover art, are magnificent. Also, I have a strange fascination for pouring over the most minute details of a recipe, making it in my mind, but rarely actually committing the act of doing it in real life. My husband says this practice of absorbing recipes mentally actually replaces cooking for me. Jab intended.
